Citrix VDA install doesn't show GUI
Website Visitors:On a new install of VDA software from CVAD 1912 LTSR CU5 version and higher, when you run the VDA software from AutoSelect.exe file and enter all the details, after it prompts for reboot, installation will not continue.
Even if you nagivate to your software path and retry to launch the setup, GUI will not show up.
This is because in the registry path, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce there was a key created with the name “!XenDesktopSetup”
When you install VDA for the first time, it shows the GUI and VDA installation steps. It installs RDS role and it needs to reboot. After reboot, installation doesn’t continue.
- If you are installing the VDA software for the first time, hold on where it says it needs a reboot for RDS role, remove this “!XenDesktopSetup” key from the above registry path and let it reboot the server. Post reboot, click on AutoSelect.exe file and click on install VDA for multi session OS. It should continue the VDA installation.
- If you’ve already tried installing, check for the registry key, remove it and try again. Before reboot, check if that key exists and remove it.
If you do not delete this key, no matter how many times you try to initiate the setup, GUI will not show up. Installation will not finish.
